Application Deadlines:
 Students admitted twice per year
 Fall Admissions: Dec 15
 Spring Admissions: July 1
Applying:
 Application is online, via mySeaport, and opens up within a month before the application deadline
 Students are also required to submit a complete hard-copy application to CHHS OSS
Admissions Requirements:
 Admissions to UNCW
 2.70 total GPA
 Complete a minimum of one course in each category:
o CHM 101
o One Biology Course:
o BIO 201, 240, or 246
o One Math/Statistic Course:
o MAT 111, 112, 115, 151, 161, or 162, or STT 210, 215, QMM 280 or PSY 225
o PSY 105
o SOC 105, ECN 125, or ECN 221
 Completion of TEAS Assessment
TEAS Assessment:
 Students can take the TEAS Assessment multiple times, however you may only take it once during each
testing administration period
 Fall testing period: Aug 4 – Dec 5
 Spring testing period: Feb 10 – June 20
 If taken after testing period, score will not be accepted
 If taken multiple times, we will use the highest score achieved
 If test is not taken at UNCW, scores need to be sent to UNCW Testing Services
Completion of Prerequisite and Corequisite Courses
 Must be successfully completed earning a minimum grade of “C” in order to be eligible for second
semester nursing courses
10 Year Rule:
 Students will have had to take all science and math prerequisites within the past 10 years prior to
application
 If they are older than 10 years, student must retake/audit those courses

Non Math/Science courses older than 10 years may be retaken/audited if student desires (advisor
approval)
Selection Process:
 50%: Math/Science Prerequisites GPA
 25%: Non-Math/Science Prerequisites GPA
 25%: TEAS Assessment Score
 GPA will be calculated based on all completed prerequisite courses
 Where courses have multiple options, the highest grade will be used
What will NOT count towards GPA:
 Scores and grades will not count towards GPA for AP courses, CLEP courses, or Audited courses.
However, the credits will count.
 Repeated courses at another institution which have been previously taken at UNCW will not count
towards GPA
Program of Study:
 Courses are only offered in the Fall and Spring semesters
 1st and 4th semester of the Nursing program, students will not be full time in only NSG courses
Transferring into UNCW
 Must be accepted to UNCW prior to applying
 Apply to UNCW prior to March 1 for Fall semester in order to apply prior to July 1 for the following
Spring semester cohort
 Apply to UNCW prior to Oct 15 in order to apply prior to Dec 15 for the following Fall semester cohort
Retaking Courses:
 Courses with a grade of C or better cannot be retaken. We will only give credit to the first course taken
with a C or better.
 If student has taken one of the courses that have multiple options, they can take one of the other courses
to get a better grade
