Introduction to copyright
An awareness of copyright is essential for everyone involved in education and research. This
introduction will help you to understand the legal restrictions on reusing other people’s work
and also how to find solutions.
We will look at the recently updated statutory exceptions to copyright and at Creative
Commons licences.
It is also important to have an understanding of your own copyright in the works that you
produce (everything from blog posts to PhD theses), so that if you sign a publishing
agreement, you are fully aware of the effects on the ownership of copyright.
