Email Reactivation
UNCW email accounts are deleted about 3 months after graduation or inactive status. Students receive
several warnings, from ITS, prior to account deletion. Many times our office or TAC is contacted by
students wishing to extend their email account because they failed to heed those warnings. Only in cases
where there is a legitimate academic reason, such as post-baccalaureate internships, faculty research,
etc., should students be allowed an extension. These requests for extensions must be approved by the
student’s dean and routed to the Registrar, prior to the account deletion. Only with a Dean’s approval will
an extension be granted. Once the email has been deleted, the emails are unrecoverable. A request
following a deletion will merely reactivate the account, not recover the former emails. Failing to migrate
mail and/or logins to another personal email account, before the deadline, is not sufficient grounds for an
extension.

deadline, please send an email to Chris Wrede
(wredec@uncw.edu) to be coded for extended grading. Be
sure to include the CRN of the course(s) and copy your
department chair and academic dean for approval.
