Funding Faculty Start-Up Costs Need Fund academic faculty start-up costs for faculty in College of Arts and Sciences, Cameron School of Business, College of Health and Human Services, and Watson College of Education. Target Audience Charter Academic departments Develop and implement a funding plan for faculty start-up costs in order to effectively meet the needs, requirements and expectations of the affected academic department. Use one-time state funds on a recurring basis to strategically offset the high cost commitments academic departments incur with hiring new faculty. Strategic Goals 2013 - 2015 Priorities 1. Identify and prioritize faculty start-up costs to be funded. 2. Analyze the funding results and impact to determine optimal use of funding. Performance Targets *Targets will be established that measure the impact of funding faculty start-up cost to the departments. Core Team Members Provost, Vice Provost, Deans, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, Business Officers, Budget Office. Annual Process 1. Annually each spring Budget Office engages identified affected units to submit faculty start-up cost commitments made for the faculty to be hired for the next fiscal year. 2. Budget Office works with Provost's Office to determine the departmental funding scenarios based on the funding limit. 3. The final funding scenario is approved by the Provost's Office and submitted to the Budget Office. 1
