BA (Hons) Marathi - GI313 (Part Time) (Top-Up) 1. Objectives The degree programme is designed to provide knowledge and skills in the fields of language, literature and society. It prepares students at undergraduate level leading to a number of professions in such sectors as teaching, the services, media and industry. 2. General Entry Requirements In accordance with the University of Mauritius General Entry Requirements for admission to undergraduate degree programmes. 3. Programme Requirements A post ‘A’Level MGI Diploma in the subject or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the MGI/UoM. 4. Programme Duration Normal 2 years Degree (Part Time) Maximum 4 years 5. Minimum Credits Required for Degree Award - 105 The MGI Diploma already counts for 60 credits. For award of the B.A (Hons) Marathi degree, the student must obtain 45 credits, in addition to the 60 credits earned from the Diploma, which makes a total of 105 credits. Breakdown as follows: Diploma Degree 60 Core Modules 33 Electives Dissertation 3 9 6. Credits Per Year Minimum 12 credits, Maximum 36 credits, subject to regulation 4. 7. Assessment Each module can be taught in one semester only or throughout the two semesters (yearly modules). Each module will be assessed over 100 marks and will be as follows (unless otherwise specified): Written examinations for all modules will be carried out at the end of the academic year except for semester modules (unless otherwise stated). Assessment will be based on a written examination of 2 to 3-hour duration (normally a paper of 2-hour duration of modules carrying less or equal to three credits and 3-hour paper for modules carrying six credits) and on continuous assessment done during the semester or year. The continuous assessment will count for 30% marks of the modules. It may be based on seminars, practical work and / or assignments and should include at least one class test. An overall total of 40% for combined continuous assessment and written examination components would be required to pass the module, without minimum thresholds within the individual continuous assessment and written examination. 8.
