American Indian Welcome Gathering,
This is a gathering for all new Native American students at UM. Family members are welcome
to attend.
8:30-9:45 a.m.
Welcome and Opening Meeting
A presentation about General Education Requirements and the Registration process.
9:45-11:00 a.m.
Evaluation of Credits
Explanation of the evaluation of your transfer credits, including credits that you are currently
enrolled in. Please fill out the top and left side of the “Transfer Evaluation for Current Courses”
worksheet in your folder.

Transfer Student Services Fair
Take advantage of services available to you on campus and from the Missoula Community.
Check out the various booths to learn about housing, childcare services and other supports
that will help you be successful as you complete your education here at UM!
Not Transferring in Math Credits? You’ll need to take a placement exam!
Before you meet with your advisor, please visit the University of Montana Math Placement
webpage (http://www.umt.edu/mathplacement/) to learn more about the placement exam. The
website will contain information about the placement exam and a link to the actual testing site,
called ALEKS. There are public computers available in the Mansfield Library.
In order to register for the ALEKS exam, you'll need The University of Montana's Course
Code: MAHXU XDVMA

Do you have Financial Aid or Payment Questions?
The Financial Aid and Business Services help desks are located on the 2nd floor of the
Lommasson Center, in Griz Central. Stop by and we would be happy to assist you!

Writing Assessment
If you are not transferring college-level composition credits (WRIT 101). You’ll be given a
choice of topics to compose an essay that takes one hour. It will test your composition
development, language, grammar and spelling skills. Please bring a pencil or pen.
11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Lunch on your own
In between your required events, grab a bite to eat on campus for a reduced price. Bring your
lunch ticket to eat in the Food Zoo for a reduced price at our award-winning all-you-care-to-eat
buffet! You can also grab a quick bite at the UC Food Court, where items are sold a-la-carte.
12:00 noon- 3:00 p.m.
Major Meetings
You must attend this meeting in order to receive your advising number (needed to register for
classes). You’ll find a complete listing of times and locations in your advising folder. Your
individual advising appointment may occur at this time or it may be scheduled for later in the
afternoon.

Once you see your academic adviser and receive your advising number, you can log onto
CyberBear from any computer with internet access (http://cyberbear.umt.edu/).
We will have assistance available from 1:00-4:00 p.m. in Liberal Arts room 206 if you would
like to register on campus.

Davidson Honors College Meeting
If you have been accepted to the Davidson Honors College, attend this session to get
pertinent information about your opportunities and requirements.
