BA (Hons) HISTORY AND SOCIOLOGY – SH 340 (Under Review)
1.
Objectives
This degree programme is designed to provide knowledge and competence in the fields of
history and sociology from an interdisciplinary perspective. It provides the background for a
number of professions in such sectors as teaching, research, heritage, the civil service, the
media or public relations and research institutions, and NGOs.

General Entry Requirements
In accordance with the University General Entry Requirements for admission to undergraduate
degree programmes.

 A credit in English Language at Cambridge School Certificate/‘O’ Level or equivalent.
 2 GCE ‘A’ Level passes in 2 subjects.


Assessment
Each module will be assessed over 100 marks with details as follows (unless otherwise
specified):
Written examinations for all modules will be carried out at the end of the academic year
except for semester modules (unless otherwise stated).
Assessment will be based on a written examination of 2 to 3-hour duration (normally a paper
of 2 hour duration for modules carrying less or equal to three credits, and 3 hour paper for
modules carrying six credits) and on continuous assessment done during the semester or year.
Modules marked with an (R) are research-based modules will be assessed by a research
project consisting of 40% of the total mark and 60% by examination.

Submission Deadline for Dissertation
Final copy: Last week day of March of the Academic Year by 4.00 p.m at latest
