HOW TO SUBMIT (starts 2/26/14)
1. Create a folder with your last name. Save all submissions
and associated forms into this folder.
2. Export InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop files as
high-quality print PDFs. Process Photoshop images
at 300 ppi.
a. File must be named as follows:
categorycode_firstname_lastname.pdf
NOTE: All students enrolled in Graphic Design classes
Spring semester that have class server accounts will have
access to the portfolio folder.
5. Save Your submission folder with forms and PDFs to the
server in the folder named PORTFOLIO.
Log into one of your class accounts and the portfolio drop
box will appear.
3. Download the Graphic Design Student Entry Form

ENTRY RULES
•
All work submitted to the contest must be original designs
and illustrations.
•
Entrants may submit multiple works per category.
•
All entries must be received by April 11th, 2014.
•
Work submitted must be original work created within the
last year.
•
Finalists will be notified via email and/or posting finalist list
on the Graphic Design website at cod.edu/design.
•
Entries will not be returned.
•
All first place, finalist, and honorable mention award work
will be displayed at the Portfolio Night 2014 event on
May 8th, 2014, in SRC 2800, from 6 to 9 p.m.
•
Award winners will be notified prior to the May 8th event. All
entrants will receive a number of invitations to distribute to
friends, family, and schools. Invitations will also be mailed
to professional advertising and design firms in the
Chicagoland area.
•
Graphic Design student work will be judged by a panel of
professionals in the field of advertising and graphic design.
•
Judges assume that all entries submitted are original works
created by the entrants. Judges are not responsible for
work that misrepresents the copyright or original ownership
of the ideas, images or entries. Judges’ decisions are final
and binding.
CATEGORIES
Illustration
Entries to this category may include but are not limited to
the following:
Product illustration, packaging illustration, illustrated map,
illustrative logo series, product Illustration, greeting card
illustrations, editorial illustration (magazine cover, feature
article illustration, spot illustration series, newspaper arts
section Illustration), technical illustration (exploded views,
step-by-step assembly illustration) skateboard illustration
series, snowboard illustration series, book illustration
(children’s illustrated book, book cover), wearable
illustration (t-shirts, caps, etc.), and poster illustration.
Communications Design
Entries to this category can include any of the following:
Posters (1 or series), brochures, folders, cards (greeting
card, invitation, announcement) menus, bookmark series,
icon set (4-6), information graphics, catalogs, magazine
layout (cover, TOC, feature spread), newspaper layout,
newsletters, flyers, books (cover design, book spread),
calendars (full year or one complete season).
Identity Design
Entries to this category can include any of the following:
Logos, stationery, annual reports, signage, branding.

1 Place Award: One student will be selected for

Honorable Mention: Each finalist will be awarded an
honorable mention award in the following categories

tags and labels, etc.

Screen based designs, HTML-based Web sites, mobile apps,
and digital portfolios created using coding, Dreamweaver,
