D. CSL Mandatory Retreat September 11-13th in Montreat, N.C.
i. Overnight retreat, food will be provided.
ii. Dean Marlowe will be requesting allergies and food
avoidances next week. E-mail Dean Marlowe at
marloweb@winthrop.edu.
iii. Ray asked council to come up with ideas for committees that
will meet student needs.
E. Student Allocations Committee Report
i. $26,448 Remaining
ii. The first training date is this Thursday
iii. The rest of the dates are online.
iv. SAC will try to make the website have more up to date
information this year.
F. New Member Elections will be 8/31. If you are applying be
prepared for an interview that night. Application deadline on 8/31
at 12:00 — email to Ray or Alex or to csl@winthrop.edu. All the
applicants will be called in individually and the entire council will
interview each applicant then vote on ballots. Applications can be
found on the CSL website www.Winthrop.edu/csl . Be sure to turn
it in by 12 p.m., not 5:00 p.m. even though that is what it states on
the application. Can e-mail or hand deliver to Ray, Alex or the
Deans Office.
G. New Member Induction ceremony will be 9/14 at 6pm in the Little
Chapel.
i.
The Council requested to invite the board of trustees and
Randy Emler.
ii.
Attire will be business casual.
iii.
Yearly Member pictures may be taken at the event.
V.
Chair’s Report
A. Over the summer met with President Mahony.
B. Knowledge Park Initiative was discussed with task force.
C. The goal is to raise professional development and retain young
professionals.
D. Transportation was a discussion point.
E. Potential options are a rubber tire trolley, streetcar or a bus. Could be
beneficial for those without licenses or for cheap transportation.
F. Ray and Alex will be meeting again on September 11. CSL council is
requested to bring ideas and thoughts to our next meeting to voice
their opinions and concerns.
G. The Board of Trustees meeting 8/24/2015
i. Tillman was vandalized and has been cleaned.
1. Government has allowed students to have emotional
support animals to help with anxiety and depression.
2. The animals must be approved for all buildings. In
October there will be another meeting.
ii. Winthrop e saved 1.8 million dollars because of the budget of
the cuts we did last year to the budget.
VI. Open Floor (Questions/Comments/Concerns)
A. Food booths at sporting events. “Taste of Rock Hill.”
i.
Game ticket could allow you to buy food from local
businesses at the game.
ii.
Food trucks are a possibility.
iii.
Beth West suggested contacting WU Crew for more on that
idea, directly contact Amy Kline.
iv.
Janay Reece suggested inviting Amy Kline to come speak to
the council.
B. Thanks to Sara, Ke’Asia and Damon for helping table at convocation today
for CSL
C. We will be exploring the idea of an app called Trello that was suggested
by Sara De Oliviera.
D. Maria announced that the group called “Think College” has grown
exponentially for this year.
E. Applications for judicial council are being taken.
i.
The group hears conduct cases for individuals who have denied
responsibility.
ii.
Training is Friday the 18TH at 1:30.
iii.
Composed of 3 faculty and a few students.
iv.
Last year they held four hearings.

Must be at least sophomore status.
F. Welcome Week has 6 more events to attend. Two cultural events left
