Communication The Humanities Subcommittee will be meeting with representatives from Women and Gender Studies regarding the proposed certificate next Wednesday at 11:00. Business Items: Curriculum Follow-up: Humanities: ART 502 and ART 699 were approved. Follow-up information for the graduate increment on MAR 456 UG is still pending. Chair Bolton is still waiting for a response from the Honors College Dean related to the rejection of the UG designation for HC 496 UG and the subsequent recommendation to remove the UG status from UH 495 UG. Social Science: LING 470 was approved. Follow-up information is pending on four proposals. Science: The list appended was approved. The Council discussed whether it was appropriate to create a graduate seminar course for an undergraduate program. It concurred with the recommendation of the subcommittee to reject CCS 594. It would be more appropriate for disciplines associated with the minor to offer graduate seminars and crosslist with CCS. Another alternative would be a 494 UG number. Perhaps guidelines are needed to facilitate interdisciplinary programs. Follow-up is pending on CS 478 UG / CS 578, and BIOL 468 UG. Professional Schools: The appended list was approved. Follow-up is pending for a few items. Admissions Proposal The proposal from Music to waive the GRE for admission into the graduate program was approved. The Professional School Subcommittee is still deliberating on the proposal from Curriculum and Instruction. Graduate School Follow-up Associate Provost Brown indicated that the Graduate School Deferred Admission Policy will be revised. Students are not required to apply for re-admission if deferred within one year so a fee is not appropriate and will be eliminated. Although a memo was sent by Associate Provost Brown confirming membership on the MIS Oversight Committee in November of last year, a meeting was never convened. Associate Provost Brown will contact committee members to assure they are still willing to serve. He will also ask Professor Kamp to serve as chair. Professor Hirstein will serve as the Graduate Council liaison. The meeting was adjourned at 1.05 p.m. Science Consent Agenda Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences BMED 432 UG Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics Change from UG to U BMED 632 Advanced Pharmacokinetics Change title from Advanced Pharmaceutics & description Graduate program Recording requirements, adding CS 365 to pre-requisites FOR 434 UG Advanced Forest Roads new course FOR 435 UG Advanced Timer Harvesting Change title from Advanced Timber Harvesting and Forest Road, Change credits and description GEOS 451 UG Petroleum Geology New course GEOS 439 UG Applied Magnetics new course Computer Science Program modification Forestry Geosciences Physical Therapy PT 516 Movement System Exam and Evaluation Change title from Musculoskeletal Evaluation I PT 519 Movement System Exam and Evaluation II Change title from Musculoskeletal Evaluation II PT 628 Physical Therapy Student Clinic New course Recreation Management RECM 418 UG Winter Wilderness Field Studies New course WBIO 441 Field Methods in Fishery Biology and Management WBIO 475 UG Case Histories in Conservation Policy Change title from Field Methods in Fishery Biology and Management, change from UG to U Delete WBIO 560 Landscape Conservation WBIO 563 Advanced Topics in Habitat Ecology WBIO 564 Scientific Writing for Publication new course (R-10) WBIO 568 Advanced Topics in Aquatic Ecology new course (R-10) Wildlife Biology Change title from Wildlife Landscape Ecology new course Professional Schools Consent Agenda Accounting & Finance FIN 415 UG Real Estate Investment and Analysis FIN 424 UG Financial Markets Curriculum & Instruction C&I 589 Professional Project HHP HHP 417 UG Fundamentals of Coaching HHP 435 UG Certification Preparation HHP 492 UG Program Planning for Community Health HHP 524 Ethics in Health and Human Performance HHP 528 Advanced Exercise Prescription HHP 531 Laboratory Procedures in Exercise Science HHP 544 Community- based Participatory Research Change course number from 321, change title from Real Estate Fundamentals, Change description Add prereq, and advisory language to description New course New course New course New course description change New course increase credits from 2 to 3 New course Program Modification Journalism JOUR 328 JOUR 375 UG JOUR 477 UG JOUR 488 UG Law LAW 613FOR/EVST 513 LAW 679FOR/EVST 579 Methods for Health Exercise Science Option Add course, increase electives, identify two tracks (applied and Research) Intermediate Photojournalism Kaimin Reporting Rural News Network Preparing for internship Change level from UG to U Natural Resource and Environmental Conflict Resolution Practicum in Collaborative Conservation Change title from Natural Resources Dispute Resolution Delete course Delete course Delete course Change title from Advanced Natural Resources Conflict Resolution
