Winthrop University is accredited by the commission on colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor’s, master’s and specialist degrees. Winthrop University does not automatically evaluate transfer credit from an institution that is not accredited by the commission on colleges or higher education of a regional accrediting agency. If you have attended a college or university that does not have regional accreditation, all of the courses taken at that college will be evaluated on an individual basis by staff in the office of student services in the college under which your intended major resides. If you are interested in a review of courses taken at a college or university that is not regionally accredited, you can submit a request to the applicable office of student services listed below. If an evaluation cannot be completed based upon the course descriptions in the institution’s catalog, you will be asked to provide course syllabi. Note: If admitted to fine arts or design programs, students will need to submit a portfolio for studio courses taken at previous institution(s) before courses are evaluated.
