February 23, 2016 Dear Winthrop University Model United Nations Alumni, NEXT MONTH, March 23-25, 2016, Winthrop University will host the 40th Anniversary of the Winthrop University Model United Nations (WUMUN) Program and we want YOU to help us celebrate! Our goal is to raise funds in honor of Dr. Melford Wilson and Dr. Chris Van Aller to support the continuing participation of high schools across the state and the region, and to enable the regional award-winning collegiate students to participate in national and international MUN competitions. WUMUN had an impact on YOU. Help WUMUN continue to impact the lives of generations of high school and Winthrop University students! Under the direction of Dr. Melford Wilson for the first twenty years, and Dr. Chris Van Aller the last twenty years, the WUMUN Program has been a truly transformative experience. Since its inception, more than 2,000 Winthrop students like you and 10,000 high school students have participated in our WUMUN conferences, learning how to speak with confidence on pressing international issues before an audience of hundreds. This year’s conference theme is “Forty Years of Unifying the World,” and the Special Committee that will be highlighted is the European Union. Special 40th Anniversary events include a Keynote Luncheon on Thursday, March 24th, an Alumni and Guest Reception on Thursday evening, March 24th , and a Friday “crisis” session for high school, college, and alumni participants on March 25th.
