Program Description
The MBA-Accounting program includes 33 semester hours
of required graduate courses including seven core courses,
a professional exam review, three business electives,
and one accounting elective. The program provides the
additional course work that students need to sit for the
CPA exam and become licensed as a CPA*. The MBAAccounting provides students with an excellent graduate
business education that includes a variety of general
business topics in addition to the advanced accounting
subjects. Evening classes are offered to accommodate both
full- and part-time students.
*Exact requirements to sit for the CPA exam and to
become licensed as a CPA vary by state. Visit the Board of
Accountancy in the state in which you intend to practice
for the most up-to-date and accurate information.
Accreditation
Winthrop’s MBA program is accredited by the Association
to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Founded in
1916, AACSB International is the premier accrediting
agency for business schools. Accreditation by AACSB
guarantees that curriculum and admission policies meet
rigorous standards. Less than one-third of U.S. business
school programs and only five percent of programs worldwide achieve this accreditation.
Winthrop University is accredited by the Commission
on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools to award bachelor’s, master’s, and specialist degrees.
