a Aug. 21, 2015 Welcome Home! Waving flags and welcome home signs, 16 COD Cares Action Heroes greeted 86 WWII veterans who landed on Honor Flight Chicago at Midway Airport in late July. The Heroes joined ranks with more than 2,500 family members, friends and well-wishers to welcome home and thank members of the Greatest Generation. Up, Up and Away Recently, the College of DuPage EMT program received a visit from the Superior Ambulance Medical Helicopter and crew stationed out of DuPage Airport in West Chicago. The medical helicopter landed on the west side of campus in the open area behind the new Homeland Security Training Center (HTC). Seventy summer EMT students received an in-depth look at the medical helicopter and had great interaction with the pilot and crew. Lee Kesselman to Lead Choral Association College of DuPage Choral Activities Director Lee Kesselman was recently named President-Elect of the Illinois Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. Kesselman, who joined the College’s faculty in 1981, and teaches music theory and aural skills classes, serves as department chair and curates the College’s Music Fridays@Noon series. “I am delighted to be able to serve Illinois in this new role after decades of membership and affiliation,” Kesselman said. “The American Choral Directors Association has always been my primary professional association. The people and activities of ACDA have given me and my students so much during my career.” Read More New Student Trustee Gloria Roark Aurora resident and new Student Trustee Gloria Roark takes pride in providing a voice for College of DuPage. “I enjoy hearing from students, faculty members and staff regarding their input on the many facets of the College,” Roark said. “To have the power to say and do something in response to their comments is so humbling to me.” Roark was initially approached to consider a position on the Student Leadership Council. She looked into running for either SLC President or Student Trustee and was drawn to the latter position. “Being the Student Trustee allows me to have greater involvement with the larger issues at the College.
