Ultrasounds - The Sonography program at College of DuPage is open to women at any point in their pregnancies who would like to receive an ultrasound from sonography students at the College. As "payment" for their time, patient volunteers receive a free "first photo" of their baby to take home with them. Family members and friends are invited to the procedure, which takes place under the direct supervision of several registered technologists. Before volunteering, patients are requested to obtain verbal approval, as well as a screening ultrasound, from their doctors. The student ultrasounds are not diagnostic exams. Instead, this program provides a relaxed, hands-on opportunity for students to learn, as well as a great opportunity for expectant mothers (and their families) to participate in one of life's most miraculous moments.
