THE CARPENTER CHRONICLES
Language:
We started the chapter
book My Father’s
Dragon. We talked about
who is telling the story
and how the main
character solves
problems. We continued
to work on words with
the short and long i vowel
sounds. We also made a
chart together of words
with er, or, ir, ar, and ur.
We talked about the way
r changes the sound of
the vowel. We started
writing our own
1
informational QuestionAnswer books using
facts from books we have
read or from “Pebblego”
on our computers.
Mathematics:
We continued to
review the different kinds
of graphs. We wrote our
own survey questions and
asked our classmates. We
used tallies to collect our
data, and then we worked
with a partner to create a
bar or pictograph. We
shared what we learned
from our survey question
with our classmates. We
played a math game to
review the greater than
and less than symbols.
We also learned how to
make a circle graph.
Content:
We read the books
Where Does the Garbage
Go? and Michael
Recycle. We painted a
picture of the Earth, and
we wrote about a way we
could help take care of it.
