Program offering update
• PN program discontinuation
• BNA program site offering
• ADN revision
o Approvals completed or
in process
o Curriculum Plan of
Study
o Graduate outcomes
Bucy & Barkoozis:
PN program is being discontinued and incorporated into the
new A.D.N. program, whereby student may take the PN
licensure test after the first year, if they choose.
• Makes good sense
• Good use of resources
PN to A.D.N. bridging is still in planning stage and how to
transition them into the new concept based curriculum.
We have 3 “advanced placement” types of students: 1) former
C.O.D. nursing students, 2) transfer students, 3) LPNs
Concept Based Curriculum points/goals:
• Develop the student in a broader sense than acute
care
• Reduce content creep
• Loosen the grip on “lecturing”
• Goal to make an easier transition to BSN program
• Position the high school student for the next rung on
the ladder
Evolve/Elsevier longitudinal testing is being used for
benchmarking.
We already have two 3+1 agreements – Benedictine U and
Governor’s State.
We will maintain our accreditation; change report being sent
out this week.
Current students will complete their current program; will not
be transitioned to the new curriculum.
Program Outcomes handout was referenced.
B.N.A. Program: in 2nd 8 weeks of Fall Semester will be
offered at our Westmont Campus in addition to our main
campus.
College of DuPage – Nursing Department 2 A.D.N. Admission: Moving from ~120 A.D.N. fall admission
and 40 P.N. spring admission to ~80 A.D.N. admission in fall
and 80 in spring semesters.
• Would like clinical rotations to become more routine
and predictable.
• Provides more of an even balance
• Shorter waiting period for admission or readmission
Admission exam is the HESI A2 (Evolve/Elsevier academic
assessment test), and have adopted the Evolve HESI
longitudinal testing, intended for providing resources,
feedback and remediation.
• Students find the feedback useful
• Students have access for up to a year after graduation
• Not intended to replace NCLEX prep courses, but
could influence that decision; yet to be seen
• Aurora U has seen improvement after they
implemented incentives for students to take the tests
seriously
4
Program of Study update
• Curriculum Map
Program of Study handout was reviewed.
• A plan to help the high school student ladder through
B.N.A., A.D.N., and B.S.N.
5
Evaluation of Clinical Faculty: assistance
from Clinical Sites
Berry:
Development and Welfare Committee is developing a tool
for evaluating clinical faculty in a more realistic and
meaningful way. Referenced the handout.
Looking for clinical charge or unit nurses to be involved in the
evaluation.
C.O.D. has hired two Assistant Deans to focus on part time
faculty.
We plan to continue doing the student evaluations of the
clinical faculty; add a self evaluation; require new faculty to
do a simulation clinical for observation; add the new
evaluation tool for clinical sites to be involved with.
College of DuPage – Nursing Department 3 Clinical Liaison feedback:
• Differing opinions on who should do the evaluating:
Staff nurse/ charge nurse/ team leader/ coordinator
• Paper format would be better than electronic; others
feel electronic would be better
• Would like a level of anonymity – role of the person
rather than the person’s name
• There is some concern that the evaluator may not be
evaluating the right person

Policies)
