*Word Study: Your child should be
able to read the following word wall
words: a, go, I, my, see, the, and, is,
to, in. Your child should know the
sounds for the following letters: a
(short a as in “apple” and long a as in
“acorn”), c, d, g, l, m, o (short o as in
“opera” and long o as in “ocean”).
Starfall.com is a great place to
practice letter names and letter
sounds if your child is working on
these skills. Feel free to explore the

*Social Studies: Next week we will
be taking a journey into the past to
learn about the Pilgrims, the
Wampanoags, and the first
Thanksgiving. We will take a “virtual
field trip” to learn about the journey
that the Pilgrims made to come to
the Massachusetts Bay area. We will
explore the Mayflower, the ship that
they were on for 65 days, and discuss
what life was like on the ship. We
will be using Scholastic’s free
Thanksgiving website
Feel free to take some time over
Thanksgiving Break to explore this
awesome website with your child. It
is really neat and a lot of fun!
