Receive up to $50,000 Toward Your NLU Degree
NLU continues the commitment of its founder, Elizabeth Harrison, who believed in the value of education
as “preparation for life” by offering the Harrison Fellows Scholarship. The scholarship is designed to help
students who show exceptional promise as emerging leaders earn their degrees. Students can enroll in a
business, criminal justice, education or human services bachelor’s program and take courses at our Chicago
downtown campus. The Harrison Fellows Scholarship covers more than half of tuition costs. Other forms of
financial assistance may be available. Students of all ages and backgrounds make up a close-knit community
of learners who may benefit from extra academic guidance and personal and career development coaching,
and a special focus on team building and community engagement.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Education
• Have demonstrated exceptional

Attending one of the best teaching programs in Chicago, NLU education students
will help prepare you for the Test of Academic Proficiency (TAP) required for
teacher licensure. Choose one of the following education programs:
• Elementary Education
Created for students who would like to teach kindergarten through 9th
grade. Graduates are eligible to receive their Professional Educator
License (K-9) and an endorsement in math or science.
• Early Childhood Education
A program for students who would like to work with children from birth

• Special Education
Designed for students who want to teach children with special education
needs. It includes all preparation for attainment of the Illinois Professional

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Criminal Justice
With majors available in either Criminal Justice Administration or Forensic
Social Justice, this program prepares students to work in fields addressing
the effects of criminality on individuals, communities, and society. Graduates
are equipped to serve in the law enforcement, courts, or corrections systems,
or to work in related private industries.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Business Administration
Prepare for a successful career as an entrepreneur or in fields such as general management, marketing, health care and
information systems. NLU’s business programs focus on real-world challenges so you learn the essential interpersonal skills,
presentation and writing skills, and business savvy necessary to succeed on the job.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Human Services
Help people rise to their potential. Expand your understanding of human development and behavior in a multicultural
society. NLU’s human services program will provide you with the skills required to work in psychology, behavioral health,
human resources or community service — and make a difference in your community and the world.

Harrison Fellows Scholarship Requirements
Harrison Fellows Scholarships are
• Enroll in one of the 6 eligible degree programs
available on a first-come, first-served
• Have 90 or fewer transfer credit hours
• Have a 3.0 or higher high school/transfer GPA or
basis for qualified applicants.

•Attend full-time (12+ quarter hours per term) at the Chicago
downtown campus (full-time summer enrollment not required)

Please note: The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) may change the state licensure and endorsement requirements at any time and without prior notice. Teacher candidates will be bound
by the requirements in place when applying for licensure, not by the licensure requirements in place when beginning their program. That is, the state may specify that a new regulation is
immediately applicable to all candidates with no provisions made for candidates who began their work on licensure under different regulations.
