Financial Advantage • Students who have completed an Associate in Arts degree with the selected courses required. • With this 2+2 program, students pay College of DuPage tuition for College of DuPage courses. • New students interested in completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Lewis University in partnership with COD. • Lewis University courses are offered at a significantly reduced tuition rate. • Students who graduated from COD and went elsewhere can be considered for the program if they complete an Associate in Arts degree with the selected courses required. Program Overview • This program offers a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for a state of Illinois Professional Educator License with an endorsement in Elementary Education. • The first semester of Lewis University classes are held on the COD campus. • All required field experiences are able to be completed in the COD area. • Lewis University College of Education programs are approved by the Illinois State Board of Education. This concentration will be comprised of general education courses as well as additional courses in a content area chosen by the student. The content area should be one that is taught in a middle school (i.e. Language Arts, History, Math, or Science). Students should choose electives to assist in meeting the 18-hour requirement. These courses can be taken at COD or at Lewis University. Lewis University students are required to complete a minimum of 128 credit hours to earn a BA degree. Students must pass either the State of Illinois Basic Skills Test OR the Test of Academic Proficiency and have a GPA of at least 2.75 before enrolling in any Lewis University Education courses.
