Golden Shamrock Award
Criteria and Rules
The Golden Shamrock program is sponsored by the Kroger company
Criteria for the Award
Established in 1990 to recognize outstanding contributions,
The Golden Shamrock Award is presented by the Golden
Shamrock Committee seven times each year (October to
May, with the exception of January) to two employees who
have made noteworthy contributions to the district. The
Golden Shamrock Committee is comprised of representatives from local businesses, the City of Dublin, the Dublin
City Schools, and the community. The Kroger Company is
the sole sponsor of the award.
One of the most valuable assets of the Dublin Schools is its
employees — the teachers, bus drivers, office staffs, food
service workers, custodians and administrators who contribute daily to the education of the district's children.
Golden Shamrock rules:
1) ALL employees of the Dublin City Schools are eligible
to receive a Golden Shamrock Award.
2) The Golden Shamrock Award is a once-in-a-lifetime
achievement by an individual. Groups are not eligible.
3) Golden Shamrock Award winners are recognized by the
Dublin Board of Education during regular Board Meetings,
the first board meeting of each month.
4) Nominations are accepted throughout the year and can be
made by employees, parents, students and friends of the
Dublin Schools.
5) Nomination forms can be obtained from any Dublin
School office and should be returned to Dublin City
Schools, Public Information Office, 7030 Coffman Road,
Dublin, Ohio 43017.
6) Written nominations are reviewed monthly by a sevenmember committee of representatives from the classified
and certified staff of the Dublin Schools, the City of Dublin,
the Kroger Company, and community members. The committee selects each month's winners by individual ballot.
7) Nominations may be made using ONLY the official
Golden Shamrock nomination form on the back of this
form. If additional space is needed, please use only white,
8.5 x 11 paper to continue with a nomination. The volume
of material in support of a nominee is NOT a determining factor for the committee. Therefore, the volume of
material in support of a nominee shall be limited to 15
single-sided pages, typed or handwritten. Odd size paper
will not be accepted. Nominations which are laminated,
submitted in binders, mounted to construction paper or
other material which are deemed to be “not easily reproducible” will not be accepted.
8) The nominations shall be limited to a maximum of 12
each month. The first 12 nominations of a month will be
considered. Any nominations received after the initial 12
nominations of a given month, will be carried over to the
next month.
9) Building level “campaigns” to nominate a staff member
SHOULD NOT include assigning students the task of writing letters of support. Students may write letters of support
of their own volition, but letters of support which were part
of a class assignment, will not be accepted.
10) The top two non-winning nominees from each month
are carried-over to the next month for a one-time only second month of consideration. After two consecutive months
of consideration, a nominee is no longer considered under
the same nomination, but can be considered again under a
new nomination.
11) Winners are notified at a surprise party in their building.
The surprise parties are provided by Kroger.
