Walker-Andrews Guests: Jean Luckowski, Chair, Education and Fine Arts Subcommittee Chair Lodmell called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m. Approval of the 10/27/09 minutes was postponed because they were not sent to committee members prior to the meeting for review. The minutes will be sent after the meeting. Communication The Faculty Senate meeting is next week. Chair Lodmell will present the curriculum items approved by ASCRC. Chair Lodmell encourages members to preview the MIS courses associated with America’s Professor in preparation for next week’s meeting. The excerpt from the 3/8/07 Faculty Senate meeting and the proposal will be sent as background information. Business Items: The Humanities Subcommittee items appended were approved. The Deletion of HSTA 379 was withdrawn. Action on FRCH 307 was postponed to allow Associate Provost Walker-Andrews to talk with the department chair. The Education and Fine Arts items appended were approved. ANTH 431 was withdrawn. Follow-up response is pending on ANTH 402 and 446. Significant issues remain regarding ANTH 240. The Professor retains the course should have a 400 number because of the methodology. Transferability and common course numbering are also concerns. Three proposals received late have several issues that will require clarification. The Certificate in Bioethics does not have syllabi included for the new courses. The AA in Licensed Addiction Counselor Studies was not vetted by Psychology and they have raised important concerns. The 2+2 Program with Social Work requires an addition.3 FTE faculty and it is not clear where the courses will be taken. ANTH 463 Historic Preservation New course Is the instructor qualified? Instructor is tenured, has an MFA in Theatre and an MA in Architectural Studies with an emphasis in Architectural History and Historic Preservation.
