910 Delzell Hall (715) 346-4370 Dear Families, WOW! What a busy semester it has already been. If you haven’t yet liked us on Facebook please do so you can see daily updates with what the children are up to as well as other notifications about things happening at the UCLCC. As I’m sure you’ve seen from weekly newsletters from your child’s classroom teacher, the children have been taking in as much outside time as able. We have continued our collaboration with Paul Haas, an Associate in the School of Physical Education and Athletic Training. This collaboration has allowed the children to have an hour of indoor large motor time per week in the Health Enhancement Center. It has allowed the teachers to further develop the children’s large motor skills in a variety of ways outside of time spent on the playground. Thank you Paul for your support in early advocacy of overall health and wellness of our future!!! Thank you to the families who have and continue to bring in plastic bags!! What a great way to recycle and reuse. We use them in our bathroom area to help keep any unwanted odors contained better. Please continue to bring these in. Please keep in mind that next month will begin the sign up for care over exam week, winterim, and spring semester – start planning ahead… Please ask any question you may want answered. Our staff listed is here to help in any way we can. If you would like your child to have a small snack beforehand, please sit with your child at a table until they have finished it prior to leaving. The nap baskets are rather small in size and all items must fit in each child’s individual basket without touching another child’s. Please bring ONLY a small blanket & crib sheet. Stuffed animals, sleeping bags, etc. are too large for the baskets. Items from home: toys, jewelry, books, etc. should remain at home. These items become an issue between the children & are often lost/broken. The center is only licensed to provide care until 5:30pm. Please make sure you are picking up your children and then signing them out. Plan to arrive early enough to have time to go and get your children PRIOR to clocking out. UCLCC Board Last year I reached out the families and staff of the UCLCC for interest in starting an advisory board to the program. I had a very limited response but as we begin a new year, I thought I would reach out once again… I would like to begin to assemble a Board for the UCLCC. The board will act in an advisory role on items such as center policies and budget information. The board will primarily work on planning and implementing fundraisers to support the UCLCC as well as Parent Outreach events and educational opportunities to other families. Parents, students, and UCLCC staff are welcome to be a part of the board. Keep in mind that the money raised from this fundraiser will go towards the continued improvement and maintenance of the UCLCC natural outdoor playground. Items are scheduled to available for pick-up on Tuesday, November 17th. As many of these items are perishable, please do plan accordingly. We are in need of paper bags to help in distributing these items. Please bring bags to the office! If there is a parent or two interested in collaborating with the center next year for this fundraiser, please contact Becky Helf or Alicia Utke at the center 715346-4370. We are also continuing in recycling old cell phones, ink cartridges, and other small electronics. Please take a look around your home or if you know of other family members who would be able to donate, please bring those items into the small cardboard box located on the top of the parent mailbox area. Please help support your Center!!! Thank you If you have any interest in serving on the board, please contact Becky Helf, Center Director at 715-346-4370 or bhelf@uwsp.edu Thank you for the consideration! Becky UCLCC NEWS 3
