Media Contact: Mary Flannery 215-991-8198 Mary.Flannery@DrexelMed.edu FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DREXEL UNIVERSITY TO HOST CONVERSATION ON TITLE IX and SEXUAL MISCONDUCT PHILADELPHIA (Sept. 10, 2012) - Drexel University College of Medicine’s Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership (IWHL) in partnership with the University’s Athletic Department will host a panel discussion, “Beyond Athletics: A Conversation About Title IX and Sexual Misconduct,” on Friday, Sept. 28, 4:005:15 p.m., at Drexel University’s Recreation Center. The Conversation is a program of the IWHL’s Vision 2020, a national initiative to advance women’s economic and social equality. Title IX, part of 1972 federal legislation that bans sex discrimination at educational institutions, has opened opportunities for millions of women and girls to participate in sports over the past 40 years. Title IX’s application today includes prohibiting sexual misconduct on campuses and encouraging gender equity in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education fields. Lynn Yeakel, Vision 2020 Co-Chair and IWHL Director at Drexel University College of Medicine, will serve as moderator. Panelists include: Terry L.
