Homework Expectations
1. Cover Slip (Lecture assignments)
Lecture homework sections will be submitted and graded individually. Homework
questions should be copied to facilitate accurate grading. After completion, a coverslip
must be stapled to the front of the assignment. Coverslips will be provided in class
and are also available on the course webpage. These must be printed.
2. Paper (Lecture and Lab assignments)
- Homework pages are expected to have clean edges (not ragged or torn)
- Homework must be stapled.
We will not accept unstapled homework or homework that is torn with
ragged edges from a notebook. If you choose to turn in such homework it
will be returned to you without being graded.

- Use the printed homework assignment(lab) or copy the problem and instructions from
the text (lecture).
- Write up should be professional: Neat and clear, without excessive “scratch outs”.
- Show your work in logical order
- Show your work! Do not use erasing as a solution method on submitted homework
or exams. Problems with no/insufficent work will receive a reduced grade and may
receive a “0” grade. - Use written explanations as necessary
- Homework answer should be indicated clearly by boxing or circling the solution
4. Graphs

Calculators, Study Partners, and Grading:
• Homework assignments will be graded on completion, correctness and quality of
communication. Perfect answers with illegible work or without supporting work
will receive a reduced grade up to and including zero.
• Calculators will not be permitted on most exams and quizzes, thus you are highly
encouraged not to rely on them for your homework assignments.
• You are encouraged to work with your classmates on homework problems. However each student must write up and turn in their own assignment.
• Please be aware that clear communication of math ideas will be an important
component of this course, you must show your work to receive credit for a problem.
Failure to show your work may result in a zero on the assignment.

via the course webpage. Lecture assignments will be due Tuesdays at 9:25am.
Approximately 14 lab assignments will be assigned over the course of the semester and
