Past minutes: The minutes from October 8th were approved.
COMMUNICATION

The meeting started with the um minute.
BUSINESS ITEMS

The Science curriculum consent agenda appended was approved. There were several
follow-up requests for revised syllabi to strengthen graduate increments. The courses
below are still pending.

An item that the Council should consider is Banner’s listing of graduate only courses as
UG. This is to allow advanced undergraduate students to enroll. There should be a more
appropriate work around for this.

Follow-up issues are still pending resolution in the Humanities and Social Science.

The program review document for Communication Studies was approved.

The Vice President for Research and Creative Scholarship is working out additional
details regarding the possibility of moving the Graduate School’s reporting structure. He
and the Provost will discuss this with the Council on November 18th. Dean Ross has
concerns with regard to the appropriate personnel FTE to handle the work including the
IIP and MIS oversight, which now includes Material Science. The program needs some
leadership and direction.

The revised Graduate School self- study will be sent to the Council for consideration. It is
hoped that the Council will have time to discuss this prior to the meeting with the
Provost.
