Please explain/justify the new proposal or change. 
Beginning in catalog year 2013-2014 Media Arts began offering a required 491 Special Topics course in
Producing to fill the fundamental need for the study of film funding, business planning, marketing and
film distribution for Media Arts majors in the Filmmaking track taught as part of load by full time
faculty. As this course has been successful we wish to make it a permanent and required part of the BFA
in Digital Filmmaking track. The course will continue to be taught by full time faculty and makes no
change to the current credit requirements for the degree.

PROPOSAL
The School of Media Arts proposes making the following change
to the required Upper Division Core:
Change the MART491 Special Topics course in Producing to a
permanent course and add MART460 3cr as a required course for
the BFA in Digital Filmmaking. This will cause no change in credits
required in the major.
