Summary
Creative Pulse Graduate Procram
Currently the Creative Pulse Graduate program courses are distributed
between three departments: Art, Music and Theatre. Since the Creative
Pulse is an integrated arts program this made sense when the program was
flrst started; however the multiple sublect listing is unnecessary, confusing
to students and faculty and problematic for Moodle and grading. We are
proposing a new, single subject for graduate program courses called "CP".
ln addition, we are requesting a modification from two 5-week summers to
two 4-week summers. To ensure the total number olcredits and course
work remain the same. CP staff will of'fer one online course and will
modily the apprenticeship credits from one to two credits to better reflect
thc level of academic work required (see attached Course Form change).

The Creative Pulse Graduate program was developed in 1990, with courses offered for credit under the
auspices of three departments: Art, Drama and Music. In addition, the School of Media Arts has become
actively involved in delivering relevant coursework. All courses are graduatelevel.
Having multiple cross-listings for the same course is cumbersome and unnecessary. We are proposing a
new rubric (or department name) for Creative Pulse. CVPA recommends an abbreviation of CP. Due to
accreditation requirements for the MME program, the seminar courses will remain crosslisted with
MUSE. However, all other courses will only be offered for CP credit.
