Level I Program Form I Summary of Proposed Changes Department/program Psychology We ask to replace the titles of two of our graduate concentration areas with Summary one, more generic, title. Currently, our MA programs and our PhD programs include the following two concentration areas: Developmental Psychology and Animal Behavior. We propose to eliminate these two titles and replace them with the more descriptive, more generic and more flexible title of EXPERIMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY. The proposed title subsumes the developmental and the animal behavior research areas but it is more descriptive of what we do and more consistent with national nomenclature. In addition the “Experimental Psychology” concentration area would cover other research areas such as Social Psychology, Quantitative Psychology and Cognition, all of which are already represented by tenure track faculty members in the department. This change would not require any additional resources. An apt analogy for this change would be the use of “Wildlife Biology” as a more generic, flexible and descriptive concentration area than specific research areas such as Mammalian Studies, Avian Studies…etc. II Endorsements and Approvals Please obtain the Program Chair/Director’s approval, the Dean and the Associate Provost.
