Students need to select courses 3 3 3 accordingly. Please explain/justify the new proposal or change. The critical topics from one deleted course, MGMT 344 Human Resource Management, will be covered in two courses required for all business students, MGMT 340 Management and Organizational Behavior and MIS 257 Business Law. Coverage of HRM topics is required by our accrediting agency, AACSB, for all business students. Further, most management students do not work in HRM after graduation. Students interested in this specialization, however, can take a related special topics course as an elective. The other deleted course, MGMT 348 Entrepreneurship will become the capstone course for all business majors, under the new course name MGMT 486 Strategic Venture Management (see separate Program Change form). An important goal for these adjustments to the management major curriculum is to make the major more flexible. Students in this major may specialize in quite different subject areas, such as entrepreneurship, international business, entertainment management or human resource management. This is a trend in other management departments across the country. V Copies and Electronic Submission Once approved, the original, a paper copy and an electronic file are submitted to the Faculty Senate Office, UH 221 (camie.foos@mso.umt.edu). VI Department Summary Required if several proposals are submitted. In a separate document list program title and proposed change of all proposals. Revised 11-2009
