Since the French section now incorporates culture within the three-course survey of literature sequence (311, 312, 313), we propose to divide the survey into four courses (splitting FRCH 311 Middle Ages, Renaissance & 17th Century, and FRCH 312 18th & 19th Centuries, into FRCH 310 Middle Ages & Renaissance, FRCH 311 17th & 18th Centuries, and FRCH 312 Long 19th Century). This will enable us to cover a more reasonable amount of material in 310, 311 and 312. French majors will be required to take three of the four-course sequence.
