FOR NON-THESIS OPTION: None of the 9 credits in C are THESIS credits. Summary: Both options are 36 credit-hour programs. All required courses and elective courses are the same for each option, except for the six thesis credits. Thesis credits apply only to the Thesis option while six hours of coursework apply to the non-thesis option, which also includes a comprehensive exam. Calculation of the 50/50 Rule: Graduate School personnel have informed us that the courses in C do count towards the BoR 50/50 Rule: For our Thesis students, the calculation begins after 699 Thesis credits are counted towards the degree; hence, in our case, half of thirty (30) credit hours (36 for the MA minus 6 Thesis) must be 500-level course credits, which includes 595, 596, 598 as well as 570. For our Non-Thesis students, half of thirty-six (36) credit hours must be 500-level.
