CONTESTANT QUALIFICATIONS
Any young woman meeting all the following qualifications is eligible to compete in the Miss Prairie
View A&M University Scholarship Pageant (MPVAMUSP):
1. A full-time student enrolled at PVAMU in good academic standing having minimum 3.000
cumulative GPA and will be a Junior or Senior as of September 1, 2015.
2. Must not be on any form of University or civil probation/sanction as a student at the University.
3. Must be of good moral character and has not been convicted of any crime.
4. Must be single and do not have any children, nor do I expect to have a child while participation in
activities related to MPVAMUSP.
5. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent GED.
6. Must be no less than 18 and no older than 24 years of age at the time of the pageant.
7. Must not participate in any activities that will adversely impact your ability to fulfill your
responsibilities and duties to MSPVAMU.
8. Will not participate nor represent the university in any external pageant without the express written
approval from the MSPVAMUSP representative.
9. Must possess and display a 3.00 minutes talent in the competition. Talents may vary and come
from either of the following categories: song, dance, instrumentation, speech, and dramatic skill. The
use of fire and other hazardous materials is prohibited.

MISS PRAIRIE VIEW A&M UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT
2015 LOCAL CONTESTANT CONTRACT
1. I will be a full-time student enrolled at PVAMU in good academic standing having minimum

8. I must develop a 3.00 minute talent for the onstage competition. Talents may vary and come
from either of the following categories: song, dance, instrumentation, speech, and dramatic skill.

9. I agree to participate in the series of events leading up to the final selection of Miss Prairie View
A&M University 2016 (Miss PVAMU) and to abide by and be bound by the rules and regulations
governing the pageant and the awarding and supervision of the pageant scholarships and other prizes.
I agree that I meet the selection criteria as set forth by the Miss America Pageant and Miss Texas
Pageant, Inc. including that I will be at least 18-years-of-age and will be no older than 24-years-of
age on September 1, 2015.
10. If I am selected Miss PVAMU, I agree to make myself available for public appearances required
of me by the pageant Director. The Director of the Miss Prairie View A&M University Pageant has
approval rights on all appearances made by Miss Prairie View A&M University. Required
appearances include: PVAMU Student Leadership Institute, PVAMU home and away football
games, Homecoming activities, Convocation and other events as agreed upon by the director.
11. I recognize that during my year of service as Miss Prairie View A&M University, I will represent
the university and its sponsors. I agree that I will maintain immaculate personal grooming whether on
campus, going shopping, or any public appearance. When appearing as Miss PVAMU, I will always
dress appropriately for the occasion with hair, makeup, and nails groomed.

12. I recognize that the position of Miss PVAMU is an honor. I therefore agree to treat the Director,
all students, faculty, staff and visitors with respect and to behave in a manner becoming my position
while on campus and in the community. I understand that I may be recognized as Miss PVAMU by
members of the general public and will guard my behavior accordingly.
13. I understand that it is my responsibility to perform community service in regards to my platform
and other campus events on a regular basis. I agree to make regular appearances on campus and in
the community. I understand that my platform is my responsibility and not that of the Miss PVAMU
Director. Any event or appearance that I schedule in regard to my personal platform is to be reviewed
by the Director of Miss PVAMU, but I understand that said appearances and events are my complete
responsibility. The Director of Miss PVAMU is not required to provide me any platform related
appearances.
14. I agree to contact the managing director of Miss PVAMU on a weekly basis throughout my year
of service.
15. During my year of service as Miss Prairie View A&M University, I agree to maintain my
physical appearance by working out and eating a healthy, balanced diet. I also agree to maintain a
reading program to keep up with current events and world issues.
16. I understand that it is my responsibility to remove any material, including photographs,
comments, and links, which would cast doubt upon my fitness to serve as Miss PVAMU contained
on any website with which I have control, prior to completing my application for entrance into the
2016 Miss PVAMU pageant. I also agree that if chosen as Miss PVAMU or a runner-up, I will
monitor my accounts weekly and limit the content accordingly. This includes, but is not limited to,
my Facebook and my Instagram accounts.
17. I agree that neither the staff of the Miss Prairie View A&M University Pageant nor its Director
nor anyone working with or for this pageant shall be liable should any accident occur during prepageant or pageant activities.
18. I agree that the time, method, and manner of judging the Miss Prairie View A&M University
Pageant and the award and the supervision of the scholarships shall be within the sole discretion of
the Director of the Miss Prairie View A&M University Pageant, and that the decision of the Director
of the Miss Prairie View A&M University Pageant and the persons designated to judge the various
events in any and all matters pertaining to the selection of the winners shall be final.
19. If any of the representations and warranties made by me herein shall prove false, or if I engage in
any of the prohibited acts or activities during the year of my service, or if I otherwise fail to conduct
myself in a manner which, in the opinion of the Miss Prairie View A&M University Pageant officials
do not uphold and maintain the dignity and honor of the title of Miss Prairie View A&M University,
the I shall forfeit the title of Miss Prairie View A&M University.
20. I agree to pay a $250.00 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit upon acceptance to participate in the
Miss Prairie View A&M University Scholarship. I understand that my deposit will NOT be refunded
if I withdraw as a contestant in the Miss Prairie View A&M University Pageant. In the case of an
emergency, I realize that I would need to provide pageant officials with signed documentation that
my withdrawal from the pageant was completely excused.

21. I understand that it is my responsibility to approve the ads placed in the Miss Prairie View A&M
University Scholarship Pageant booklet. The Director of the Miss Prairie View A&M Scholarship
Pageant is not responsible for any missing ads or incorrect ad sizes after I have given my final
approval. There will not be any refunds or reprinting of booklets once the final proof has been
approved.
22. I understand if I am selected as Miss Prairie View A&M University and I choose to accept the
free housing provided by Campus Communities, I will have the option of staying in Phase I, Phase II,
or Phase III. I will not request for any additional living accommodations to be paid for by the
university. If I chose not to accept the sponsored housing provided by Campus Communities, I will
be completely responsible for my living accommodations and expenses.

RELEASE AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
As a current student at Prairie View A&M University and applicant for the Prairie View A&M
University Scholarship Pageant Program contest for the title of Miss Prairie View A&M
University 2016-2017, scholarship, and other prizes, I make the following statements and
representation:
I attest that I am a student at Prairie View A&M University and a have been a bona fide student
for a semester and/or transfer student who has earned fifteen semester hours at Prairie View
A&M University with a total of thirty semester hours prior to my request to compete for the title
of Miss Prairie View A&M University; that I am of good moral character; that my marital status
is that of single and that I have never been married, nor have I had an annulment of marriage;
and I am not, nor have I been pregnant; nor have I cohabited with a male in lieu of marriage
contract; that I have never been involved at any time in any act of moral turpitude; that I have
never done any act or engaged in any activity which is or could be characterized as dishonest,
immoral, immodest, indecent, or in bad taste; that I am female and have always been a female;
that I am in reasonably good health and can to the best to knowledge participate fully without
limitation in any pageant activities and do hereby consent to submit to the MPVAMUSP upon its
request, any hospital and medical records pertaining to me, and I do hereby to agree to release
any hospital which and/or doctor who ever treated me to send any medical information pertinent
to me and my ability to perform the duties of the MPVAMU at its request; that I am a high
school graduate and can or will produce my diploma as proof thereof; that I will be a junior or
senior and will enroll in school for both Fall and Spring of the year of my reign, and between the
ages of eighteen and twenty-four years on September 1, 2015; I further attest that I have not
heretofore authorized any person, firm, or corporation to use my name, photograph, picture, or
present or future title in connection with an endorsement or advertisement of any commercial
product; that I am not under contract to any person, firm, corporation, nor have I made any
commitments or legal obligations for the future that would prevent my appearance or
participation in the finals of Miss Prairie View A&M University Scholarship Pageant or
compliance with the terms and conditions hereafter set forth. Modeling and talent agencies may
be excluded from this portion of the agreement if the agency will sign a waiver of this contract
giving the Miss Prairie View A&M University Scholarship Pageant the rights to control my time
and schedule and approve my appearance for Prairie View A&M University. This waiver must
also include a provision that should I become Miss Prairie View A&M University 2016-2017 the
contract will become null and void.
In further consideration of my admission as a contestant in the forthcoming Miss Prairie View
A&M University Scholarship Pageant, including my right to compete for and participate in the
Miss Prairie View A&M University Scholarship Pageant and other prizes, I do hereby agree as
follows:
1. I agree to participate in the series of events leading to the final selection of Miss Prairie View
A&M University; and to abide by the rules and regulations governing the finals of the
MVAMUSP and the awarding and supervision of the MPVAMU Scholarships and other prizes.
Participation in finals of the MPVAMUSP should be understood to include all public

appearances required of me by Pageant Officials; my appearance in telecasts, radio broadcasts
and moving pictures of all or any part of the events connect with the finals, and I hereby
authorize the MPVAMUSP and anyone duly licensed by it televise, photograph, broadcast and
take moving pictures of me singularly or in a group.
2. I further agree that I will participate and take part in all activities of the MPVAMUSP and will
not leave any such activities prior to the official conclusion nor leave or depart for my residence
hall or hometown until I am officially released by the Pageant Officials on or before Midnight
following the finals of the Pageant.
3. I further agree, if I am selected as Miss Prairie View A&M University, to sign the
management agreement for MPVAMUSP as attached and to be governed by the pageant.
4. I agree that the time, manner, and method of judging the finals of the Miss Prairie View A&M
University Scholarship Pageant and the awards and supervision of the MPVAMU scholarships
and prizes shall be within the sole discretion of the Pageant and that the decisions of the persons
designated to judge the various events and any and all matters pertaining to the selections of the
winners shall be final. I further agree to abide by the judges’ decisions and the decisions of the
Pageant Committee and hereby relinquish all rights, either assumed or real, to appeal and further
agree not to file any lawsuit against or participate in any litigation directed at the MPVAMUSP,
its Officers, Directors, Committee Members, or Judges.
5. I understand that holding the title of Miss Prairie View A&M University is an honorary
position and I will accept such title, if it is awarded t me, without an expectation of monetary
gain and understand the MPVAMUSP is under no duty to arrange my bookings with associations
or firms that would result in monetary gain to me. I further understand that my
manager/chaperone has authority to schedule appearances for me and that I shall have all
individual appearances, that I am aware of, cleared by my manager prior to acceptance by me.
6. I understand that MPVAMUSP has had to make certain commitments of Miss Prairie View
A&M University in advance of the final selection. Such commitments shall be binding upon me
and I shall do my utmost to carry out and perform such commitments.
7. If I am selected as first or second runner-up to the title of MPVAMU 2016-2017, I agree to be
available to assume all of the duties and obligations of MPVAMU as set forth herein, if for any
reason the original MPVAMU or any of her successors are unable or ineligible to serve or
continue to serve as MPVAMU;
8. I further agree that the MPVAMUSP shall have the right to choose and designate my manager,
chaperone and/or traveling companion during the term of my reign. I further agree to cooperate
with my said agent and the official of the university who is appointed as my manager regarding
my faithful performance of such duties or other responsibilities that my manager, in sole and
absolute discretion, shall designate. I agree to abide strictly by the rules and suggestions handed
down by my manager, in reference to performance as Miss Prairie View A&M University;;
9. I understand that the scholarship received by me from the MPVAMUSP is for the Fall/Spring
Semesters and is payable in two equal installments, effective September 1 of my enrollment and

title year. I further understand that it is my responsibility to secure any and all other funds needed
to cover my expenses as a student of the university;
10. All photographs, videotapes and/or other recordings reproductions made of me as a
contestant in the MPVAMUSP, either individually or as part of a group, in connection with the
Pageant, shall be the property of the MPVAMUSP, and the same may be used by it, or anyone
designated by it, for publicity, advertising or any other proper use;
11. If I am selected Miss Prairie View A&M University and I meet all the requirements for any
other external pageant I agree that I will represent Prairie View A&M University in the pageant
as Miss Prairie View A&M University;
12. I understand that preparation for the pageant will be the sole and complete responsibility of
the Miss Prairie View A&M University Pageant Officials, aided by my appointed manager.
Parents, relatives and friends will not interfere or assist with the said preparations unless called
upon to do so by the manager. My manager, chaperone and/or traveling companion may be one
in the same;
13. I understand that the MPVAMUSP will be providing for my participation in any external
pageant as follows:
a. Competition Wardrobe (not to exceed $1500) to include evening gown, interview outfit, and
talent outfit.
b. Transportation to and from the pageant.
c. Food and lodging incidental to participating in the pageant.
d. Additional clothing and other items needed by me to participate in the pageant is my sole
responsibility.
14. If I am selected as the representative for an external pageant (i.e. Miss Collegiate African
American Pageant), I understand that I will be under contract to the external pageant and that the
MPVAMUSP will relieve me from any and all obligations of this agreement when such contract
with the external pageant is executed and signed.
15. In the event that I fail to carry out and perform all of the duties in accordance with the rules
and regulations governing the conduct of Miss Prairie View A&M University and as a runner-up
to Miss PVAMU as set forth in this agreement, or should I file suit against the local pageant, or
at any time in the sole and absolute opinion and recommendation of my manager and/or pageant
officials, that I am conducting myself in a manner detrimental to the title of Miss Prairie View
A&M University, or if at any time I shall forfeit the right to the title, and all awards,
scholarships, and other gifts and benefits pertaining thereto; and the first runner-up to the title
will be declared my successor and shall receive all such benefits to which I would otherwise be
entitled and I shall immediately upon request return all of the gifts and benefits which I have
received of the remaining portion thereof.
Should the first or second runner-up, or the contestant receiving the next highest points be
offered the title in that order and none of them accept, then the MPVAMUSP reserves the right
to declare the title vacant or appoint another contestant of their choice who will then receive all
benefits mentioned. This clause also pertains to the runner-ups in the event of non-compliance
with the rules.

In consideration of the foregoing provisions, covenants and paragraphs, we the undersigned
contestant, parents or guardians are aware of the benefits to be gained by each of us by allowing
said contestant to participate in the MPVAMUSP, sponsored by Prairie View A&M University
and do agree with the MPVAMUSP that each of us being the parents and guardians, hereafter
called party of the first part, do by these presents exonerate, holds harmless, release, discharge
any indemnity the MPVAMUSP and its members from any and all claims, lawsuits, damages, or
charges related to the operation of the Miss PVAMUSP.
The paragraphs of this agreement are severable, and in the event any paragraph or portion of the
agreement is declared illegal or unenforceable, the remainder of the agreement shall remain
effective and binding on the parties. This instrument constitutes the entire agreement between the
parties and there are not any other convenient, promises or agreements, written or oral and no
agent or any party has the authority to make representations or other agreements, oral or written,
which modify or vary the terms or conditions of this agreement.

Scholarship Pageant Program.

CONTESTANT RELEASE AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
I, the undersigned, am a contestant in the Prairie View A&M University Scholarship Pageant Program, do
hereby knowingly and voluntarily release the Prairie View A&M University Scholarship Pageant
Program, individuals or corporations charged or chargeable with responsibility of liability, their heirs,
administrators, executors, demands, damages, loss of service, actions and causes of action based upon,
arising out of, or in any way related to any honors, right or awards sought by me as a contestant in the
Prairie View A&M University Scholarship Pageant Program, the conduct of business there at, the
ownership and possession of any honors, rights, or awards thereby, and negligent act, act of misfeasance
or non-feasance by the referenced pageant, or any of their agents, contractors, servants, employees, or
licensees in connections with any honors or awards bestowed or said pageant.
Further, I do hereby agree to exonerate, hold harmless, and indemnity such pageants listed above from
any and all claims that representative or I may have against such honors, rights, and awards. Such
indemnification to included any or all fees (including reasonable attorneys fees), costs and other expenses
reasonably incurred by or on behalf of the above referenced pageants and investigation of or defense
against any such claims, lawsuits, demands, actions or causes of action. I have had a full and adequate
opportunity to be thoroughly advised of the terms and conditions of this release and indemnity agreement
by counsel of my own choosing. I have also been afforded the opportunity to ask any all questions that I
have been concerning this document and its execution by me. I do fully understand the terms of this
agreement and do intentionally and voluntarily agree to the same.

CONTEST TALENT AND PHOTO RELEASE
I hereby irrevocably consent to the use of my name and/or of one or more photographs of me and
reproductions of the same for promotional and trade purposes by the Prairie View A&M
University Scholarship Pageant Program and/or program sponsors, in any form deemed
necessary by the pageant. Additionally, I also irrevocably consent to the use of any video or
recording of my performance in the pageant to which I am a contestant. The publicity I receive
by virtue of the use that may thereof be full and adequate consideration for this consent.
I agree that all such portraits, pictures, and photographs, reproductions thereof and plates and
negatives, recording both video or electronic that is connected therewith are and will remain the
property of the Prairie View A&M University Scholarship Pageant Program, or program
sponsors unless otherwise noted for hire by the pageant. I am of the legal age and thereby
eligible to give my consent.
