The Student Court Letter of Interpretation October 26, 2010 All members of the E-Board and Senate, With the powers stated in the SGA Constitution Article VI.6.6 and the Judicial By-laws Section 2.A., On Thursday October 21, 2010, the Judicial Board met and discussed the constitutionality, fairness, proper procedure, and clarity of the creation of the Senator of Ministries position and the appointment of a person in that position in the middle of the semester. We, the Judicial Board, with a majority vote, agreed that for this particular instance that James Terrell, who was the Chaplain for the 2010-2011 school year, be allowed to keep his position due to there not being anything stated in the Student Government Association’s Constitution that prevents him from taking office immediately. We do, however, suggest that an amendment be made to the Constitution or Senate ByLaws that clearly outlines when new senator positions can be created and when such offices can be open for filing.
