STUDENT COURT VERDICT
To: Elections Committee
Student Government Association
Prairie View A&M University
WHEREAS, according to Section II Subsection B of the Judicial By-Laws, “The Judicial Branch shall review
and/or hold court on all Student Government Association legislation for constitutionality, fairness, proper
procedure, and clarity... Proper procedure insures that all bills and resolutions passed are in accordance with these
by laws.”
WHEREAS, this court has reviewed all evidence, and heard testimony that was viable to the case at hand, and the
Elections Committee has entered a plea of not guilty.
WHEREAS, the Elections Committee has been found GUILTY on the charge(s) of
I.
Mishandling of official Student Government documents.
II.
Misinterpretation of the Elections Code for the Student Government Association.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED AND ADJUDGED as follows:
I.
CENSORSHIP
- Each member of the Elections Committee is to withhold from voting on any legislation for the
next Senate meeting and Select Committee meetings
- Each member of the Elections Committee will be counted towards quorum in order for the rest of
Senate to operate.
II.
PROBATION
- The Elections Committee will rewrite a new Elections Code.
- The Elections Committee will develop a new process for students to submit elections packets that
does not involve the Office of Student Engagement.
- The Elections Committee as Select Committee will insure there is a Student Government Official
in the Student Government Office during the hours of 8AM-5PM Monday through Friday.
III.
PROBATION HEARING
- After December 1st, 2015, the Elections Committee will be summoned for a hearing to uplift
probation.
IV.
VIOLATION
- Any violation of probation or censorship is in direct violation of the Student Government
Constitution, and Judicial By-Laws. Violations can and will result in further Judicial actions.
LET JUDGEMENT BE ENACTED Accordingly.
