ISPE AND PMMI PARTNERSHIP Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) Q: What is Pharma EXPO? A: Pharma EXPO is a brand‐new ISPE exhibition experience. Pharma EXPO is co‐sponsored by ISPE and PMMI, and is the only event in North America dedicated to the pharmaceutical lifecycle. By co‐locating Pharma EXPO with PACK EXPO, we are increasing opportunities for our exhibitors and sponsors, as well as drawing additional attendees. The vision for Pharma EXPO is to reflect the total pharma lifecycle. The new event is unique from other ISPE programs as it will be primarily a trade show, offering a marketing platform for Members who are also industry suppliers around a value proposition of facilitating buyer‐seller interaction. For Members and attendees, we are envisioning a series of educational mini‐sessions and workshops, the details of which will be finalized during the initial planning stages. Pharma EXPO will be focused on displays of equipment, processes and services utilized in research and development, investigational products, scale‐up, materials, commercial manufacturing and distribution, as well as lifecycle management. Examples include automation, processing, production and packaging equipment spanning tablet, capsule and fill finish, component suppliers, engineering and consulting companies, as well as contract manufacturing suppliers, packaging, labeling, logistics and related companies. Q: Who is PMMI? A: PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, is a trade association made up of more than 600 member companies that manufacture packaging, processing and packaging‐related converting machinery, commercially‐available packaging machinery components, containers and materials in the United States, Canada and Mexico. As like‐minded, not‐for‐profit associations with related missions, ISPE and PMMI share a commitment to advance the manufacturing industry. PMMI’s vision is to be the leading global resource for packaging and processing equipment, and its mission is to improve and promote members’ abilities to succeed in a global marketplace. PMMI focuses on a variety of industries, including packaged foods, personal care, beverage and pharmaceuticals. Q: What is PACK EXPO? A: PACK EXPO is the world’s largest packaging and processing event in 2013, delivering innovations to advance your business objectives. In 2012, PACK EXPO brought together more than 46,000 packaging and processing professionals and more than 2,000 exhibitors. By aligning Pharma EXPO with PACK EXPO, we are increasing opportunities for our exhibitors and sponsors, as well as drawing additional attendees. Q: When is Pharma EXPO? A: Pharma EXPO is scheduled for 2 – 5 November 2014, at McCormick Place – West Building, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Pharma EXPO will follow PACK EXPO’s model for timing and location, taking place in Chicago and Las Vegas on alternating years. Q: How can I register to attend/sponsor/exhibit at Pharma EXPO? How much will it cost? A: We are still in the early stages of planning Pharma EXPO, but we will be sharing more details about registration, costs and details about the educational sessions in the coming months. Exhibitors interested in participating will receive additional information soon. Q: What is the objective of Pharma EXPO? A: Pharma EXPO will provide a spacious venue where you can see new and emerging technology, processing and packaging equipment and other products and services that advance the pharma manufacturing industry. As like‐minded, not‐for‐profit associations with related missions, ISPE and PMMI share a commitment to advance our respective and related manufacturing industries and share the common goal to be leading technical and global resources (ISPE in pharmaceuticals and PMMI in packaging and supply chain). Q: How will ISPE maintain visibility at such a large event? A: ISPE and PMMI will be featured as equal partners at Pharma EXPO. The new show will be developed, marketed, sold and promoted as a new event with a distinct name, brand and focus. The new event will be located in a separate building during PACK EXPO (Chicago show only), which will help to enhance the visibility of the new show and ISPE. Q: How will Pharma EXPO impact the ISPE Annual Meeting? A: Pharma EXPO will be scheduled close to the ISPE Annual Meeting in 2014; however, we will present each event distinctly. The ISPE Annual Meeting is the Society’s largest educational event, where Members and the industry meet to discuss education, regulatory and industry challenges. The Annual Meeting will always be the ISPE flagship event. Future communications will focus on the unique value of each event so each Member and potential exhibitor can determine how these events meet their education and business needs. Q: How will this impact ISPE’s partnership with Reed Exhibitions/INTERPHEX? A: Because we are entering an exclusive agreement with PMMI, ISPE and its Affiliates and Chapters will no longer be directly supporting the INTERPHEX show. Additional information will be provided to Chapters at the upcoming Affiliate Council Meetings later this spring. In addition, Members and Chapters are encouraged to ask questions or participate on future calls where further details will be discussed. Q: Will there be any impact to the ISPE Facility of the Year (FOYA) program? A: The FOYA program is a very important program for ISPE Members and a bellwether program for the Society. A number of changes are being planned to make the FOYA program more visible. The banquet formerly held at INTERPHEX will now be held in June at the ISPE‐FDA CGMP event and as always, awards are presented at the Annual Meeting.
