Discussion – Monitoring without management alternatives? What should we do
or how do we proceed? What’s the next step? Pinyon study group is
planning to summarize results and give options to land managers.
Creative program development within the state of Florida was successful
in reducing risk to southern pine beetle. R-8 problems have been
resolved by an active forest products industry. Other regions/states
should be or are working to enhance or reestablish the forest products
industry. We should look to new acts that have supported forest
management alternatives and encourage land managers to act on these
opportunities.
