Incumbent will lead the fish passage and habitat restoration program of the Green Bay Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office within the Lake Michigan watershed. Direct the National Fish Passage and the Great Lakes Basin Fish Habitat Partnership programs for the Green Bay Fish and Wildlife Conservation office and the Lake Michigan watershed that includes developing and implementing plans for the strategic direction, staffing, outreach, and budget of the program.
Work with fishery agencies, local governments, and partners/constituents to: 1) identify fish passage or habitat restoration projects to implement, 2) prepare cooperative and grants agreements to execute the projects, 3) advise on the design of projects,
4) assist with project execution as needed, 5) ensure compliance with contract deadlines for project reporting and completion, and
6) report accomplishments. Work closely with the Sea Lamprey Control program to balance objectives for fish passage with objectives for sea lamprey management. Developing strong partnerships will be an important requirement for this position.
Serve as co-coordinator, with the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, for the Great Lakes basin-wide connectivity focal area of the
Upper Midwest – Great Lakes Landscape Conservation Cooperative, especially for the development of decision support tools to support connectivity programs. Participate on the Habitat Working Group of the Lake Michigan Technical Committee to coordinate and collaborate on habitat restoration and environmental objectives of the Lake Michigan Committee.
As funding allows, assists in hiring and directing staff to achieve program objectives.
