Beginning in winter, 2015, student will establish field sites along the Texas coast and collect the data to estimate distribution, abundance and habitat associations using Occupancy and N-mixture model estimators. Data will be collected over two years in hot, muggy conditions. Qualifications B.S. in Wildlife Ecology, biology or related field. Background in quantitative population estimation which includes field work as well as data analysis and interpretation. Experience with bird/acoustic/auditory surveys is a plus. The successful candidate will supervise three field technicians. Strong people skills is a must. The candidate must meet minimum requirements for enrollment into the MS Wildlife Ecology Program (3.0 GPA last 60 hrs, taken GRE last five years, 3 letters of reference).
