SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
NewPage Lake States Wood Supply is responsible for providing 5 of the company’s mills in the Lake
States with round wood and chips in an economically, environmentally and ecologically sustainable
manner to produce pulp used in the company’s world-class papermaking operations. These positions will
focus in providing support for private stumpage acquisition, timber harvesting, and wood procurement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work with senior team members to:
• Administer some aspects of the sale such as pre-sale design, set-up, roadwork, harvesting,
transportation, sale of high value products and sale closure
• Assist wood procurement team members as they:
• Develop solid working relationships with our professional logging contractors
This position may assist with:
• Price negotiations, forecasting delivered volumes and costs, monitoring delivery schedules, inspecting
active logging jobs, and reviewing records to ensure compliance with our environmental management
system.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Business skills in purchasing, negotiations, or sales
• Bachelors Degree -preferably in Forest Administration or Forest Management
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
• Ability to create and analyze detailed spreadsheet or other report applications will be a prerequisite
• Excellent communication skills and strong computer skills
• Ability to walk extensively and tolerate temperature extremes
• Current, valid driver’s license required as well as good driving record
