A cash award of $1,000. GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS The applicant must: Be a full‐time student from one of the Northern states*, attending a two or four‐year college or university. Be a strong academic performer and have at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Have a degree emphasis in a recreational boating safety related field (e.g. law enforcement or criminal justice, natural resources/environmental science, education, public relations/marketing or journalism). APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT: Two recommendation letters (from a field related faculty member and the other from a professional in recreational boating safety); A resume noting all boating/natural resource/ law enforcement related activities; College transcript; and an essay (see application for details). *The Northern states are the member states of NABA and include: Connecticut, Delaware , Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin.
