Approval of minutes: November 14, 2011, Curriculum and General Education Meeting − S. Eveland addressed concern regarding format of agenda/minutes with the question as to who is considered and should be listed as “Members.” Should only voting members be listed as “Members?” Issue is unresolved. − It was moved by S. Eveland and seconded by D. Berry that the minutes be approved with the condition that B. Cramer’s name be corrected. The motion carried. II. Inactivation of Courses—Tabled on November 14 a. COSC 2050—Computer Operating System Installation & Administration (3) − It was approved by S. Eveland and seconded by S. Eastman to approve the above inactivation (reviewed and approved previously by department faculty), effective? The motion carried. III. General Education—Tabled on November 14 a. DSE 1501—Introduction to Developmental Disabilities (3) b. DSE 1504—Cultural Competency (3) − The above items were tabled with the request that the authors be present at the next Curriculum and General Education meeting to address questions regarding rationale. IV. New Programs—Tabled on November 14 a. A.A. Psychology for Transfer − It was approved by M. Hines and seconded by K. Bandy to approve the above program (reviewed and approved previously by department faculty), effective? The motion carried. V. Course Updates a. ARTH 1510—Survey of Prehistoric to 1400 Art History (3) b. ARTH 1520—Survey of 1400 to Present World (3) − It was approved by S. Eveland and seconded by V. Herder to approve the above courses on the condition that ARTH1510’s title be changed to Prehistoric to Renaissance Art History (reviewed and approved previously by department faculty), effective? M. Hines opposed motion stating course should have a new number. The motion carried with opposition. c. SOC 1510—Introduction to Sociology (3) − It was approved by D. Berry and seconded by B. Devine to approve the above course (reviewed and approved previously by department faculty), effective? The motion carried. VI. Course Updates with Extensive Lab Designation a. PHYS 2222—General Physics (Calculus) (4) − It was approved by D. Berry and seconded by M. Hines to approve the above course (reviewed and approved previously by department faculty) with the caveat a few minor changes on word choice by corrected, effective? The motion carried. VII. New Courses with Extensive Lab Designation a. ART 1631—Figure Drawing (3) − V. Herder stated the New Course and Extensive Lab should be voted on separately. − It was approved by S. Eveland and seconded by J. Gallon to approve the above courses (reviewed and approved previously by department faculty), effective? The motion carried. − It was approved by M. Hines and seconded by S. Eveland to approve the above Extensive Lab Designations (reviewed and approved previously by department faculty), effective? The motion carried. b. ART 1651—Watercolor Painting (3) − The above item was withdrawn by the division VIII. Inactivation of Courses a. ART 1855—Electronic Commerce (1) − It was approved by S. Eveland and seconded by B. Devine to approve the above inactivation (reviewed and approved previously by department faculty), effective? The motion carried. IX. Informational Items a. Deadline for items to be placed on the January Curriculum & General Education Meeting agenda is Tuesday, December 27, 2011.
