TheUW-LaCrosseStudentAffairsAdministration(SAA)graduateprogramandtheUniversityofDubuqueare
collaboratingtoofferthisuniquegraduateinternshipopportunity.Thisgraduatestudentinternwillbeenrolledinthe
SAAonlinegraduateprogramwhileengagingintheresponsibilitiesdescribedbelow.Applicantswillneedtobe
offeredanadmissioninterviewfortheSAAgraduateprograminordertointerviewforthisinternposition.Please

TheInternationalStudiesOfficeattheUniversityofDubuqueisresponsibleforinternationalstudentservicesand
studyabroadontheUDcampus.TheUniversityhasover160internationalstudentscurrentlyingraduate,
undergraduate,andseminaryprograms.Approximately150studentsannuallystudyabroad,throughfaculty-led,short
termstudy/travelprogramsaswellassemesterprograms.Theuniversityalsohascooperativeagreementswithfive
studyabroadprogramprovidersandtwoexchangeprograms.TheInternationalStudiesOfficehasonefulltime
professionalstaffandseveralstudent(work/study)positions.
JobDescription:
TheInternationalStudiesGraduateInternwillworkintheInternationalStudiesOfficeattheUniversityofDubuque,
reportingtotheDirectorofInternationalStudentServicesandStudyAbroad.Theinternwillprovidesupportinthe
areasofinternationalstudentadvising,internationalstudiesprogramming,andstudyabroadadvisingandpromotion.
HoursareflexiblebasedonagreementbetweentheDirectorandtheIntern.Theinternshipisbudgetedatthe
prevailingratesetbytheUW/LaCrosseSAAprogramfor20hoursperweekfortheFallandSpringacademicterms.Oncampushousing(sharedwithinternationalstudents)isalsoprovidedifdesired.Theinternwillhaveanofficeinthe
StudentEngagementSuiteoftheHeritageCenter.
IncollaborationwiththeDirector,theInternwillhavetheopportunitytoworkinthefollowingareas:
1. Internationalstudentorientationweek.Thisincludesassistingwitheventplanningaswellasworkingdirectly
witharrivingstudents.
2. Programplanningandexecutionforinternationalstudentsthroughoutthesemester,focusingoninnovation
withintheconstraintsofalimitedbudget.
3. Studyabroadpromotionandadvising.
4. UpdateofwebsiteandsocialmediafortheInternationalStudiesOffice.
5. OtherdutiesmutuallyagreedonbytheDirectorandtheIntern,includingsupervisionofstudentemployees.
6. OpportunityforcollaborationandcooperationwithotherdepartmentswithinStudentLifeandtheStudent
Engagementteamaswellasacrossthecampus.
7. TheInternwillalsohavetheopportunitytodesignandimplementprogramsaccordingtohis/herowninterests
andmayhavetheopportunitytoaccessinternationalstudentadvisingtools(includingSEVIS)ifthereisan
interesttodoso.
BothofourpreviousUW/LaCrosseSAAinternssecuredfulltimejobsintheirfieldsbeforegraduation;thediverse
experiencestheyencounteredatUDcertainlycomplimentedtheirownskillsinaccomplishingthis!
