TITLE: Career Services Assistant/Internship LOCATION: Western Technical College - Career Services in the Welcome Center BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES This position will assist in the development of a Career Services marketing and event plan for employers, students, graduates and staff and will assist with implementing the action items developed within that plan. This position will also help with planning and coordinating Career Services career and job fairs and the development, planning and implementation of Career Services activities through social media channels. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Participate in the development of a Career Services marketing plan for employers, students, graduates and Western Technical College staff by promoting our services, activities and events. 2. Help to promote Career Services to students, alumni, staff, employers and HR professionals. Work with Western Technical Colleges Career Services and marketing staff to develop, design and layout Career Services promotional materials including brochures, flyers, signs, email marketing, and web pages. 3. Develop, plan, coordinate and promote multiple Student Employment Services career and job fairs. Provide key support to Career Services staff during events and activities. 4. Provide daily direct customer service to students, staff, outside agencies, and the general public. Directs and assists students in their search for employment and career related information. SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Proofread materials sent by Student Employment Services to external/internal customers. 2. Maintain Career Services database by keeping up with data entry as needed; perform data entry duties on a weekly basis. QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE 1. Prefer someone with related experience in marketing, event planning, and social media marketing, AND, 2. Knowledge of social media and Microsoft Office Suite. Work effectively in a team environment and accept responsibility for professional growth. 6. Dependable, punctual, and commitment to following through on tasks. HOURS 10 hours per week (flexible). Fall and Spring trimesters. Work schedule to be determined based on the individual’s availability and mutual need within the typical 8:00 am – 4:00 pm schedule. Individual must be willing to work evenings during scheduled events. SUPERVISION: Supervision is received from the Career Services Staff who will direct, coordinate, and advise the internship student.
