PositionDescription2016-17
Campusactivitiesaredesignedtoprovideentertainmentforstudents,butalsotoexposestudentsto
newideas.Eventsandactivitiesshouldrepresentallfactionsofthecampus.Activitiesshouldhavean
educationalcomponentthatexposesstudentstonewideas,differentcultures,andencouragesstudents
todevelopcriticalthinkingskills.

WebelieveinprovidingeducationalandentertainingeventstotheUW-LaCrossecampusand
community.Wehopetochallengeindividualthoughtthroughperformingartsandlectures,evoke
laughterwithcomediansandspecialevents,andbeinclusivetoallwalksoflifeforanyeventwe
provide.TheprogrammingandexecutiveprocessesoftheCampusActivitiesBoardenhanceleadership
skillsandprovidedevelopmentalgrowthtoanyUW-LaCrossestudentwhochoosestoparticipate.
CampusActivitiesBoardstrivestolinkeducation,entertainmentandYOU.
PositionResponsibilities
ThisindividualwillworkwiththeCampusActivitiesBoardtodevelopco-sponsorshipsorindependent
programswithintheStudentCenter.ResponsibilitiesincludeadvisingCABexecutivesandother
students.Thispositionwillberesponsibleforsomeindependentprogramming.Specificresponsibilities
include:
1. AdviseCABexecutives/boardonhowtocreateanddevelopco-sponsoredprograms.
2. Serveastheprimarycontactforstudentorganizationsneedingsupportforprogramming.
3. ReachouttotheRecognizedStudentOrganizations,includingFraternityandSororityLife,
DiversityOrganizations,andResidenceHallOrganizations,tofacilitateregularprogrammingin
theStudentCenter.WorkcloselywithUniversitySchedulingtodevelopaprocedurefor
schedulingprogramsthroughouttheStudentCenter.
4. WorkcooperativelywiththeCampusActivitiesBoardincoveringprogrammingfortheStudent
Center,specificallyfortheEntertainmentCaféandtheTheater.Explorecreativewaysto
encourageothergroupstoprograminspaceswhenCABisnotsponsoringevents.
5. CoordinateallprogrammingintheEntertainmentCaféandtheTheater.Workcollaboratively
withUniversitySchedulingandtheEveningEventCoordinator.
6. Attendeventscoordinatedbyselforstudentsthispositionadvises,orarrangeforotheradviser
tobepresent.
7. ProvidedaytodayprogrammingwithintheEntertainmentCafé.Examplesinclude:
a. Packer,Brewer,Badger,andothercollegesportingevents
b. Jazzperformances
c. Karaokenights

CoordinatepublicityfordaytodayprogrammingintheEntertainmentCafe.
CoordinateweeklyprogramswithintheTheater.
Completeprogramevaluationasnecessary.
Completeannualreportsasrequiredbytheprogram.
ServeasengagedmemberoftheUniversityCentersstaffby:
a. AssistingintheimplementationofUniversityCenter’smissiontoprovideawelcoming
environmentthatfacilitateslearningopportunities,embraces,diversity,andenriches
thecampusexperience.
b. AttendingregularUniversityCenter’sstaff,sub-unit,andstafftrainingmeetings.
c. Cooperatingwithothergraduateassistantsandfull-timestaffinUniversityCentersand
attendingregularmeetingswithgraduatestaffandsupervisors.
d. Maintainingregularofficehours(20hoursperweekminusregularmeetings).
