College of Liberal Studies Dean’s Office Graduate Assistant Job Description Description of Job Responsibilities Assist the CLS Dean’s Office For no more than 16 hours per week, the GA will support the CLS Dean’s Office staff with the following: ! Work directly with leadership team and provide administrative support on special projects ! Provide support in the furtherance of the College’s Inclusive Excellence Initiative ! Coordinate Inclusive Excellence Activities. This will include such programs as Inclusive Excellence book reading groups and other diversity programs as assigned. The Graduate Assistant will maintain records of all Inclusive Activities in the College. Track assessment for assigned programs. Develop and maintain calendar of Inclusive Excellence events. ! Compile spreadsheet information for fundraising, strategic planning activities, and assessment ! Assist with College of Liberal Studies events (i.e., college-wide meetings, CLS Evening of Excellence, Campus Close-Up, CLS London Study Tour) ! Provide support to the CLS Faculty Mentoring Programs ! Research issues, prioritize tasks and work independently with a high degree of confidentiality ! Assist with public relations initiatives (CLS Newsletter, CLS Webpage) ! Other duties as assigned Assist the Eagle Mentoring Program For no more than 4 hours per week, the GA will support the EMP Director with the following: ! ! ! ! ! Review EMP protégé Grade Progress Reports and Eagle Alert to identify concerns and monitor student progress, assisting to identify resources for student improvement Review EMP protégé monthly reports, follow up with students as assigned by Director, identify plan of action as appropriate Meet with EMP Director on a regular basis to receive feedback and updates on progress on work that has been assigned Assist EMP Director with interview process for next cohort, overseeing student worker’s scheduling of Director’s secondary screening of students Compile quarterly progress report for each EMP protégé Qualifications • Demonstrate commitment to the principles of Inclusive Excellence through programming, campus collaborations, and participation in University Inclusive Excellence activities. • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills • Must be detail oriented and able to multitask • Ability to take initiative and work well with minimum supervision • Ability to work as a team player with all members of the Dean’s staff • Knowledge of/ or ability to learn computer systems (Excel, D2L, Word, PowerPoint) • Ability to work independently • Baccalaureate degree and current enrollment in a UW-L graduate program Time Commitment • 20 hours per week
