Text Book: Intro Stats – De Veaux, Velleman, Bock The chapters will be regrouped as follows to fit it in the intended six weeks: Part 1a : Data collection, organization and visualization Chapters 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 13 Part 1b : Scatterplots, Correlation and Regression analysis Chapters 7, 8, 9 Part 2: Probability Chapters 14, 15 Part 3: Random Variables and probability models (Binomial, Geometric) Chapters 16, 17 Part 4: Normal Distribution Chapter 6 Part 5: Inference for Proportions Chapters 18, 19, 20, 22 Part 6: Inferences about means and Review Chapters 23, 24 Course Design: Every class will be a mixture of a lecture and a worksheet. There will be a quiz on every Friday during the course. All homework will be uploaded on Loncapa sometimes the homework assignments will also be given as handout in the class. Grading Methods and Scale: The worksheet, quizzes and final will comprise 30% of the grade each 5% will be toward attendance and 5% toward class participation.
