Application Procedures
Please be sure to do the following as you apply for a graduate assistantship:

Include in your personal statement at least one paragraph which addresses (1) why you
applied for a graduate teaching assistantship and (2) why you are qualified to teach
Communication 101 (Introduction to Public Speaking).
Have your references address specifically your ability to be a successful teacher (this may
be a separate letter or included in the letter of reference written for your admission into the
Division’s Graduate Program).
Be sure to arrange for a personal phone call with Chris Sadler, the Graduate Director (715346-3898), when applying for a graduate assistantship. Applicants who do not arrange for
this phone call cannot be considered for a graduate assistantship. This phone call may be
arranged through e-mail contact (csadler@uwsp.edu).
