Academic Standards and Curriculum Committee
This committee is responsible for overseeing the consistent and fair application of all academic
policies and regulations pertaining to students’ matriculation at the University. The committee
makes recommendations to the Academic Council on student requests to appeal policies,
grades, or other variations to existing academic regulations. The committee reviews and
determines if students are academically deficient and must withdraw from the University and
when such students may be readmitted to the University and under what conditions. This
committee may propose regulation changes to the Academic Council.

Grievance Committee
This committee reviews complaints filed involving employment rights and entitlements that
may have been adversely affected due to a violation, misapplication or misinterpretation of
policies, regulations, or procedures..
COMMITTEE STRUCTURE:
When a grievant notice is submitted to the Director of Human Resources, the Faculty Senate
President and the Director of Human Resources will meet and utilize a computer generated
random selection process for three (3) faculty to serve on the Screening Committee. These
faculty will review the grievant notice, deliberate and submit a decision whether the grievant
notice met the requirements and the offence is grievable. If the screening committee decides
the former in the affirmative, the Faculty Senate President and the Director of Human
Resources will meet and utilize a computer-generated random selection process for seven (7)
faculty to serve on the Hearing Committee.
Those serving on the Screening Committee for a particular grievant notice will not be allowed
to serve on the Hearing Committee for that grievant notice.
All faculty, excluding Administrators will be eligible to serve on the Grievance Committee.

Intellectual Property Rights Review Committee
This committee reviews and monitors University activities regarding the administration of the
IP policy. The IPRRC shall be consulted in advance concerning any changes to this policy and
will participate fully in the future development of this policy. The IPRRC serves as the
appellate body advisory to the University President in the event of disagreement among
interested parties in the interpretation or application of this policy.
COMMITTEE STRUCTURE:
The Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs shall appoint two faculty representatives from
each School that are not currently serving in administrative appointments, to serve on this
committee. An at-large representative with full voting rights will be selected by the Faculty
Senate to serve on this committee. Terms will be staggered for 2 years with each college having
two (2) representatives on the committee at all times. Ex-officio members of the committee
will include the Vice President of Research, Economic Development and 1890 Programs or
designee, and a representative from the General Counsel’s Office.
The representatives will elect the chairperson of the Intellectual Property Rights Review
Committee every two years. A quorum consists of eight (8) or more present. At least seventyfive percent (75%) of members present must approve any resolution for it to be implemented.

University Promotion and Tenure Appeals Committee
The University Promotion and Tenure Appeals Committee is responsible for reviewing appeals
of promotion and tenure denial, recommending to the next level of approval actions to be
taken in response to these appeals and policy and procedural changes needed in the
promotion and tenure process.
COMMITTEE STRUCTURE:
The University Promotion and Tenure Appeals Committee will consist of no less than three (3)
members. It is preferred that the committee contains one representative from each college
and one at large member of the Faculty Senate. The members will be selected by the Provost
and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
No one individual is permitted to serve on any Promotion and Tenure Committee at multiple
levels, including any Appeals Committee.
