Research Interest

Research activities emphasize soil biochemistry, microbiology and environmental toxicology & chemistry. Examines the biotic and abiotic controls on enzyme production, turnover, and in-situ activities; [2] soil microbial/enzymes response to varying land disturbances and climatic changes; [3] development of new methods for soil enzyme catalysis and their effects on soil functions; [4] studies on soil microbial communities, functions and relation to mineralization of organic constituents; [5] studies on the chemical partitioning and bioreduction of soil metals; [6] biomass conversion using white rot fungi for bioenergy applications; [7] stability and interaction of humic substances in the environment

Research Activities

Studies on trace and heavy metal chemistry, chemical fractionation, and biologically reduced metals.

Microbial diversity in agricultural and forest systems

Impact of cropping systems and landscape positions on microbial respiration,
